A board certified specialist in the fields of pain medicine, as well as physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Roberta Kalafut has been a leader in the field of spinal care for more than 20 years. Currently serving as a Physician Partner of SpineAbilene, an integrated private medical practice based in Abilene, Texas, Dr. Roberta Kalafut focuses on treating patients of all ages afflicted with spinal and musculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Roberta Kalafut and her husband Dr. Edward Brandecker founded SpineAbilene in 1998. Concurrent to her work with SpineAbilene, Dr. Roberta Kalafut served in multiple administrative capacities with the Abilene Regional Medical Center from 1997 to 2004. Dr. Roberta Kalafut began her medical career after graduating from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. A skilled medical student, Dr. Roberta Kalafut followed her formal medical training with a residency in the inter-institutional physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program from Johns Hopkins Hospital and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. In her final year as a resident physician, Dr. Roberta Kalafut was appointed by hospital administration to serve in the role of Chief Resident. Dr. Roberta Kalafut began her educational career as an undergraduate at Youngstown State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Psychology. A former President of the Texas Medical Board, Dr. Roberta Kalafut participates in a wide range of local, state, and national medical organizations. Currently, Dr. Roberta Kalafut maintains membership in the American Medical Association (AMA), the Texas Medical Association (TMA), and the Texas Pain Society. Dr. Roberta Kalafut has also worked with the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society, where she served as Chairman of the Physicians Health and Rehabilitation Committee.
