Claire Bretana - Training and Development Officer for Search Engine Marketing

For a long time now, I define my self by the work I do. Who I am do not figure so prominently in my day-to-day life. I only become the real Claire when I am with my family and my most intimate friends.

I am a Cancer/Snake, a Fire and Water contradiction. I can be shy and gentle, but I can also be passionate and reckless at times. I love to be with people I trust and love, and yet I am happy when I am by myself and contemplating. I have always been analytical in my thinking, and yet my powerful emotions often take over, and I lose my hold on reason.

I am a lover of knowledge. I read books a lot, more often than I watch movies or TV shows. I like to read blogs, and I'm an avid blogger myself. I have my own domain (www.malditangpinay.com), and I maintain 3 other blogs for various purposes.

I began working as a webmaster for Eversun Software Philippines Corporation back in February 2006. It was a time when call center companies were spreading in number all over the country. I live in the province of Iloilo and call center companies have just begun constructing their offices in our region. The Metro Manila area has been saturated with BPOs for many years now and the human resource pool has been dwindling steadily. There was no reason to think that the next outsourcing company would be any different. But it was! And to my pleasure it caters to the IT industry.

I have always been a computer geek. I love to tinker with machines at home, and the VCD player didn't escape my curious mind. Playing around with computers is an enjoyment for me. Although I graduated as a Psychology Major, it didn't stop me from learning about the Internet and the newest technology available. By then I had a familiarity with blogging and basic HTML, which I think helped me get that webmaster position at the company.

I worked as a webmaster for a job posting site. It was a period of continuous learning for me. It was difficult, but all learning must go through a process where the first step is to acknowledge that you don't know anything at all. With my love for learning and my willful desire to succeed in my job, I was able to build my knowledge and skills gradually through self-study and trial-and-error application.

Now I am a training officer, a new position created for a small enterprise such as Eversun. However, this doesn't mean I should stop learning. Technology evolves so quickly and the rules of the game changes so fast that it is very important for us in the SEO industry to always be updated in the newest happenings in our world. We must continually expose ourselves to new ideas, new technology, so we can be prepared with whatever comes our way.
