As a young resident in pediatric reconstructive urology, Dr. Gary Hitzig spent a considerable amount of his free time looking for ways to solve his own problems with male pattern baldness. After an unsuccessful hair transplant surgery in 1974, Dr. Gary Hitzig remained committed as ever to overcome his condition. Discussing new treatment procedures with an attending physician at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute, Dr. Gary Hitzig learned that there was still hope to regain his hair and soon underwent the operation. As a result of his successful treatment, Dr. Gary Hitzig refocused his medical practice on hair restoration surgery and became an associate attending physician in plastic surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Gary Hitzig eventually started New York Hair Loss and has performed more than 30,000 hair transplant surgeries over the course of his career.
