Throughout most of his career, David Bergen has worked for Fortune 500 major consumer product organizations and has distinguished himself for excellence.

One of David Bergen’s first major appointments was with retailer The Gap, Inc., as well as with its subsidiary, Esprit de Corps. At these companies, David Bergen developed information technology solutions that merged branch operations globally and that provided executives with better access to information.

For example, David Bergen designed the merchandising, distribution, data warehousing, inventory management, logistics, point of sale, HR, and financial systems for The Gap. Developing such a diverse range of software requires an in-depth knowledge of the needs of the company in all respects, and David Bergen received many accolades for his accomplishments. Eventually, David Bergen managed over 400 people and oversaw a budget of over $75 million.

David Bergen took this considerable experience to the position of Senior Vice President and Global CIO at Levi Strauss in 2000. Levi Strauss was experiencing considerable difficulties, and David Bergen provided technology solutions that initiated renewed growth and market penetration for the apparel retailer.

David Bergen led an overhaul of Levi Strauss’ technology infrastructure and protocols, transforming a diffuse, regionalized system into a global SAP network. This modernized network allowed Levi Strauss to partner with big-box retailers such as Target and Wal-Mart and to regain substantial market share.

Additionally, David Bergen initiated overhead reductions that reduced IT expenses by 30 percent. David Bergen also implemented a series of protocol reforms and established an IT Steering Committee to ensure that future IT decisions would be cost-efficient and beneficial to the goals of the company. Furthermore, the performance of the department as a whole was measured by David Bergen’s IT Performance Dashboard, allowing executives to have immediate access to performance information.

David Bergen’s many innovations in information technology management have allowed him to lead a thriving consulting career since 2009. Currently based out of Alvarez and Marsal in San Francisco, David Bergen continues to advise prominent companies and multinationals on IT strategy and development goals.
