Ann Friedmann - Ann Friedmann, M.D., built her career on a number of training and educational accomplishments.
Northfield, Minnesota resident Dr. Ann Friedmann has led a successful career practicing medicine in the civilian and military sectors. She prepared for her profession by receiving her undergraduate degree from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. She subsequently enrolled in the University of Minnesota, where she spent four years studying Pre-Med before she gained admittance to the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.
In medical school, Ann Friedmann completed a number of honors classes, including Microbiology, Human Genetics, Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacology, and Pathophysiology. After she earned her Doctor of Medicine, she performed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington. Dr. Freidmann became Chief Resident of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Center in 1996. In 1999, she received board certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she also became a Diplomate.
Dr. Ann Friedmann’s most recent civilian position was as a Staff Physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Women’s Health Center of Northfield Hospital. Prior to that, she served the Cannon Valley Clinic Mayo Health Systems in Faribault, Minnesota, as a Staff Physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and in 2002 was appointed Department Chief.
From 1990 until 2001, she served the United States Army, where she rose to the rank of Major. During her last year of service, she acted as Assistant Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
From 1999 until 2001, Dr. Ann Friedmann was stationed in Tuzla, Bosnia, where she served Eagle Base’s 249th General Hospital as part of the Task Force Med Eagle during Operation Joint Forge. During her military service, she also acted as Staff Physician in Gynecology at the Augusta VA Medical Center in Georgia, and the Weed Army Community Hospital in Fort Irwin, California. She also served as a Clinical Instructor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Medical College of Georgia.
A strong advocate of lactation support and education, Dr. Ann Friedmann holds membership in The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and has also received International Board Certification in Lactation Support. In addition, she implemented The Pregnant Soldier Wellness Program and acted as Chairperson of the Baby Friendly Hospital Committee at Weed Army Community Hospital.
